Metaverse08 – the Real Life continuation of Metaverse07

Metaverse07 is seen as a prelude to Metaverse08, which will take place in "Real Life“ in May 2008 together with webinale.

“The webinale 08 has a holistic approach to all topics on Web 2.0 and is, hence, the ideal counterpart of Metaverse08,” says Masoud Kamali, CEO of Software & Support Verlag and organizer of Metaverse and webinale.

Metaverse07 is initiated by Software & Support Verlag, one of the leading cross media companies and organizer of conferences and Bokowsky + Laymann, an established German Second Life agency. Metaverse is supported by EnBW. Media partners are AvaStar, the leading Second Life media, the Ingame radio station Second Radio and the SL TV station Life4you.

About the Name ‘Metaverse’
The name of the conference is drawn from Neil Stephenson’s 1992 science fiction novel “Snow Crash”. The characters in the novel regularly escape to Metaversum - a mixture of the Internet and MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game), where they dawn avatars. The concept of Metaversum, as is described in the novel, has inspired the implementation of virtual worlds such as Second Life and World of Warcraft (WoW).
